If you’re in Pennsylvania and need reliable pipe freezing services, Cryo Tech Pipe Freezing provides safe and efficient solutions for industrial, commercial, and residential systems. Our experienced technicians help isolate sections of pipe without draining the entire system, allowing repairs and maintenance to be completed quickly and safely.
Pipe freezing works by creating a temporary ice plug inside the pipeline using liquid nitrogen. This plug stops the flow of liquid so valves can be replaced, new connections installed, or maintenance performed without shutting down the entire system. For facilities across Pennsylvania, this method helps reduce downtime, control costs, and maintain operations during critical repairs.

Saw them working in Boston. Massive building was business as usual because these guys froze a pipe instead of having to drain the whole system. Technology is very cool and these guys have plenty of it! Extremely professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.![]()

I worked with Cryo Tech on a freeze. They did excellent work and they used thermal imaging to verify the pipe was froze to prevent potential problems. Cryo Tech is the only company that I have seen that uses this technology and it greatly enhances the safety of the job. I would highly recommend Cryo Tech for you pipe freezing projects.![]()

DIY pipe freezing kits may appear convenient, but they often lack the power and precision needed for safe pipe isolation. This can create serious risks for both the system and the people working on it.
Common problems include:
Incomplete Freezing: DIY kits may not reach the temperature needed to create a solid ice plug, leading to leaks during maintenance.
Safety Hazards: Handling cryogenic materials without proper training can cause injuries or equipment damage.
Expensive Failures: If the pipe fails during a freeze attempt, the resulting water damage and repairs can cost far more than hiring professionals.
We use many instruments to verify ice formation throughout the freezing process, including pyrometers, thermocouples, thermal imaging devices.
Pipes crack when the ice grows without space to expand. This is usually a closed valve or another ice formation. The technicians at Cryo Tech are trained to ensure proper spacing and pressure venting to avoid this issue
While pipe freezing has no size limit, we currently offer pipeline freezing services up to 36” in diameter.
We are able to hold your freeze for as long as you require! During the scheduling process you can choose how much time you will require for your repair or upgrade work.
Draining the entire system or using isolation valves are alternatives to pipe freezing. This will time-consuming, labor-intensive and may cause disruptions.
For a single freeze, we freeze a single point on the line and this means you can mechanically hold back one side. Each freeze will provide a single point of blockage in the line which can be used in the case where one side of the line can be drained. By having two (double freeze) isolation points, you allow a section between the two plugs for modifications.
