Pipe freezing provides temporary isolation in piping systems for repairs or renovations, it also allows repairs and modifications to be made without shutdowns. With the use of liquid nitrogen, combined with custom-made specialty equipment, we can safely freeze pipes up to 36 inches in diameter on lines that are full of liquid and have no flow. This saves job costs, time, and lots of frustrations.

We use many instruments to verify ice formation throughout the freezing process, including pyrometers, thermocouples, thermal imaging devices.
Pipes crack when the ice grows without space to expand. This is usually a closed valve or another ice formation. The technicians at Cryo Tech are trained to ensure proper spacing and pressure venting to avoid this issue
While pipe freezing has no size limit, we currently offer pipeline freezing services up to 36” in diameter.
Draining the entire system or using isolation valves are alternatives to pipe freezing. This will time-consuming, labor-intensive and may cause disruptions.
For a single freeze, we freeze a single point on the line and this means you can mechanically hold back one side. Each freeze will provide a single point of blockage in the line which can be used in the case where one side of the line can be drained. By having two (double freeze) isolation points, you allow a section between the two plugs for modifications.
